INVITATION TO GET INVOLVED Wanted: New Board Members Sunnyside House is a major community asset in the Camperdown region, featuring a 40-bed residential facility set in beautiful garden surroundings. We employ over 50 staff from the local area and, together with many hard-working volunteer support groups, provide outstanding care for our residents. The strategic direction of Sunnyside House is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors who, together with staff at Sunnyside, are committed to the achievement of excellence in Aged Care Services that benefit the region now and into the future. Aged care partnership halted

An interim partnership between Abbeyfield House Mortlake and Sunnyside House in Camperdown has been halted. Sunnyside House chair Jill Anderson and Abbeyfield House Mortlake chair Michael Murphy OAM today announced that the joint venture would not proceed. The two organisations have worked closely together since signing a Memorandum of Understanding in February. Both chairs said much had been gained in the past eight months, but the boards agreed there was no clear way forward for the joint venture to proceed at this time. “We will continue to keep our options open and look to explore different arrangements in the future,” Mrs Anderson said. Dan Tehan MP visits

We recently enjoyed a warm visit from Dan Tehan MP, our local Member for Wannon. Mr Tehan is also the Minister for Veteran’s Affairs and Defence Personnel and he had a lovely catch up with resident and WWII veteran Bert Atwell. Senior management and several board members of both Sunnyside House and Abbeyfield Mortlake held productive talks with Mr Tehan about the challenges we are overcoming to maintain not-for-profit, residential aged care in our communities.
